Pyreegue Dev Co. has released today a groundbreaking update to their highly acclaimed Edinburgh Airport (EGPH) scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator. EGPH – Edinburgh Airport II is a complete overhaul of the scenery, rebuilt from the ground up, promising to deliver an unparalleled rendition of the main airport serving Scotland’s historic capital.
The update, which brings the scenery up to a 2024 layout, introduces a host of new features and improvements. Among the most notable additions is the custom terrain elevation modeling, including a detailed 3D representation of the airport’s Archimedes Screw drainage system. This attention to detail extends to the custom ground polygons, featuring thousands of accurately placed markings and realistic weathering effects.
Pyreegue has also incorporated the latest satellite imagery, covering not only the airport itself but also the surrounding areas. This includes the new Taxi/Bus Station located south of the passenger terminal, significantly enhancing the overall realism of the scenery.
Night operations receive a particular focus in this update, with exquisite custom night lighting throughout the airport. In a unique touch, the developers have added dynamic ATC Tower lights that change to celebrate or commemorate specific dates, including St. Patrick’s Day (March 17), Remembrance Day (November 11), St. Andrew’s Day (November 30), and the holiday season (December 9 to January 5).
As you can see in the preview images, Pyreegue’s Edinburgh II really looks absolutely stunning in Microsoft Flight Simulator. And the add-on goes beyond the airport boundaries, incorporating numerous surrounding landmarks and facilities.
Simmers will find accurate representations of nearby hotels (Moxy, Hampton, DoubleTree by Hilton, and Holiday Inn), Castle Gogar Rig, car rental parking facilities, and various industrial and commercial areas. The scenery also includes detailed models of the Edinburgh Convention Centre, cargo facilities for FedEx and Royal Mail, and the ATC Radar Complex.
For an added layer of immersion, Pyreegue has introduced animated elements such as the Airlink Bus. The ATC Tower now also features a fully modeled interior, while custom static Ground Support Equipment vehicles populate the aprons and taxiways.
This is a completely new scenery, and it’s priced accordingly at around €30.00, however, it’s available now at launch at 50% off through Contrail. It doesn’t seem like there’s any discount available for customers who already own the original Edinburgh scenery, but if that’s your case, you should definitely check your point of purchase for information about upgrade options and pricing.
