Queen Elizabeth’s staff sends Tulsa woman letter about handmade quilt – 102.3 KRMG

TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa woman received quite a surprise when a letter from London arrived.

A letter from Queen Elizabeth’s Lady-in-Waiting Mary Morrison thanked Dee Bushford for the letter sent to the Queen and for the “splendid quilt” commemorating the Platinum Jubilee.

Morrison also said in the letter that the quilt should be sent through Royal Mail to Buckingham Palace.

Bushrod originally thought of the project to mark the Platinum Jubilee in her own special way from all the way in the U.S.

“I wanted to do something different,” she said. “And because quilts are my thing, I figured making a special guilt of the Queen would be a good way to go.”

A total of 110 hours was spent working on the quilt.

Bushrod, originally born in the UK, explained her quilt contains 2,700 pieces of fabric and 2,500 hand-sewn beads.
