Balmoral Castle was bought for Queen Victoria by Prince Albert in 1852 for £32,000, and it has been the Scottish home of the royal family since.
The Queen usually arrives at the Aberdeenshire castle in mid-July, but was forced to postpone her trip this year in order to swear in new Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl said on ITV’s Lorraine: ‘She goes up to Aberdeenshire every summer and she basically takes off from the middle of July until October, when she starts royal duties again.
‘But she has had to postpone it. She was meant to go at the weekend but of course we have a new Prime Minister who’s going to be announced and will need to meet the Queen.’

She opted for a pair of sensible black leather shoes for the occasion, paired with a simple black handbag and silver brooch
It is also believed that the Queen aims to have a ‘quiet chat’ with her grand-daughter-in-law during the visit.
Royal expert Phil Dampier said: ‘This might be a good opportunity to have, not an assessment of her, but a quiet chat away from the madding crowds as to how she thinks it is going.
‘I think in quiet moments and quiet walks up by the river the Queen might have a few words of advice for her.’
