Adding a splash of colour to contrast with the dull December weather, Mathilde donned a floor-length black turtleneck dress emblazoned with a vibrant floral design.

The design featured a multitude of flowers in a variety of colours in the middle of the demure dress.
She teamed her look with a pair of silver and opal teardrop earrings and sported a light smokey eye, with her hair typically coiffed and polished – though unfortunately the photographer caught her with her eyes shut in their family shot.
The royal couple, who have been married since 1999, seemed relaxed as they posed for their festive photo in a grand palace hall.
The heir apparent Elizabeth, 18, sported a stylish wine-coloured velvet dress which featured silk trimmings on the neckline and sleeves.
