The Queen has made a Christmas comment that is sure to pull on your heartstrings reports Cosmopolitan.
The monarch attended a festive event at Windsor Castle where her and other members of the Royal Family – including Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Charles and Camilla – enjoyed Christmas carols.
However it was during the event – which was already tinged with a hint of sadness as the family members made sure they stood far apart in order to maintain social distancing – that the Queen made a sad comment which was revealed by a royal correspondent.
Rebecca English, Royal Editor for Daily Mail, revealed on Twitter that the event may be the only time the Queen hears carols this year.
In a tweet, Rebecca said: “A touching moment at Windsor Castle tonight.
“The Queen told Salvation Army UK she was ‘so happy they were able to play some carols because she thinks this will be the only time she’ll be able to hear carols’ this year.
“She and Philip are, of course, at Windsor alone for Christmas.”
Following the post, fans of the Royal Family took to social media to share their heartbreak at the Queen’s comment.
One person said: “The idea of Her Majesty and Prince Philip alone is making me cry. We should all send them love. We should find a way to do that.”
While another social media user reflected on the similarities between how they were also spending the festive period in a tweet that read: “That’s so sad and true for so many of us.”
