Costco, Tesco, Gulf and Asda are among the cheapest for fuel in the city
The Government is considering a change to petrol station opening times amid the continuing conflict in the Gulf.
The Labour party is drawing up contingency plans including the possibility of introducing a ‘maximum purchase scheme’, limiting motorists to buying a set amount of petrol at a time, the Telegraph has reported.
The Government could also order petrol stations to close earlier to maintain stocks amid the Iran and Middle East oil crisis.

The summary of the document states that the scheme would “restrict the sale of road fuels at retail filling stations to the public to a maximum amount per visit to ensure that all motorists have access to some fuel”.
“The scheme can also limit the hours in which road fuels can be sold,” it adds. The shake-up has emerged as part of the National Emergency Plan for Fuel, which includes speed restrictions, fuel-rationing and longer working days.
