According to the seller, who is listed as being in Oldham, the coin is “a rare find for any coin collector” and has been listed at £1,999.
The coin has Darwin’s face, which is facing a chimpanzee. The coins were produced in 2009 to mark the 200-year anniversary of the naturalist’s birth in 1809.
While the coin is already rare, the seller has stated that the coin features a “minting error” which “adds to its uniqueness”, leading the seller to list the coin at almost 1,000 times its face value.
