Rare King Charles III post box on the Isle of Wight

The new postbox can be found on St Edmund’s Walk, Wootton.

Arthur Reeder, curator and creator of the Isle of Wight Post Box Museum, drove to the box to deliver his Christmas cards after Royal Mail removed his local one on Fairlee Road.

He said: ” Thus far, there are nine pillar boxes and 80 small ones like the one in Wootton.

“None have been found yet in Scotland or Northern Ireland, but one has been reported as ‘earmarked’ to be sent to The Research Station on Adelaide Island in the British Antarctic Territory!”

The first of the post boxes with King Charles III’s cypher appeared in July 2024 in Cambridge.

The County Press visited the Isle of Wight Post Box Museum in August.

Arthur’s collection features 260 post boxes from all over the world and much of the former East Cowes sorting office.

His collection features boxes from Canada and Australia, and attracts international visitors.
