The M4 has been closed eastbound this afternoon (December 11).
The carriageway has been shut at J20 for the Almondsbury Interchange because of a “serious carriageway defect” according to Highways England.
Drivers have been warned the closure will “cause delays” and have been urged to “allow extra time” for their journeys.
Traffic is being diverted via the M5 .
