Recreate Princess Kate’s ‘best’ royal hairstyle in five steps

The women of the Royal Family are known for their luscious locks, whether it’s Queen Camilla’s buttery blonde locks, Meghan Markle’s sleek brown tresses or Zara Tindall’s highlights.

But according to hair expert Alice Dawkins, one royal mane takes the crown for “best hair”.

The expert explained why Kate, Princess of Wales is Queen of hair, and how Kate fans can recreate her look.

Alice stated: “The female members of the Royal Family have long been admired for their hairstyles, but the one who stands out most for her luscious locks is the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton.

“With an average of 2,400 monthly Google searches for ‘Kate Middleton hair’, it seems the public is keen to find out more secrets about how the Princess keeps it looking so sleek and shiny.

From her signature blow dry to her sporty ponytail and side-swept look during more recent outings, the royal’s hairdresser never seems to miss.

And while Kate’s dark chocolate colour is classic, there have been subtle changes to its appearance with blonde, honey and caramel highlights throughout the years that have only accentuated her beauty.

“A personal favourite is the signature blow dry – achieved with a few simple styling tips.”

First, wash your hair and apply plenty of heat protectant, starting from the root and dispersing it to the tips of the hair.

Next, tip your head over and begin applying heat to the root with a blow dryer.

The goal is to produce “volume” and give the hair “more lift”. Kate is known for her bouncy locks, so achieving body is key.

Once the roots are dry, split your hair into sections and secure them. Grab a round brush and dry each section, angling the hairdryer down the strand to minimise frizz – Kate’s locks are sleek and chic.

Use the round brush to roll the ends of the hair “to create Kate’s curved under flick”.

Finally, apply a little hair oil through the mids and ends of your hair to smooth any flyaways. For ultimate Kate volume, work some volumizing spray into the roots.

Kate’s hair is so iconic that one expert believes little Princess Charlotte will recreate it as she gets older – although she might also want to experiment.
