Lopez teamed up with the film’s intimacy coordinator Robbie Taylor Hunt ‘to make a sex scene that is emotional and really about the characters’
While speaking to DailyMail.com, Lopez explained: ‘I wanted it to look beautiful and I wanted it to feel sexy, and it was also important to me as a gay man, that this film not in any way shy away from depicting gay sex and depicting it honestly and accurately.’
He added: ‘I think sometimes when you’ve seen movies in the past when it’s two men having sex and it’s just like A) that is not physically possible and B) that looks like it would hurt. So I really was longing for better.’
Lopez made a point to convey his intent to the film’s intimacy coordinator Robbie Taylor Hunt.
‘When talking to Robbie, I said I really want to make a sex scene that is emotional and really about the characters. But that someone for whom this is how they have sex, this reads accurate and real and true,’ he shared.
‘So that was our goal for ourselves is that we wanted to both make something that was sexy and accurate and true.
‘But also just gives the audience a deeper understanding of who these characters are and what’s happening in their emotional lives in that moment.’
