A new EV delivery van called the Proxima, jointly developed by REE Automotive, EAVX and US van body makers Morgan Olson has moved into customer evaluation phase.
The ‘step in’ delivery van is the newest to enter the market, and is designed to reduce the total cost of ownership of EV delivery vans.
With a body developed by EAVX and Morgan Olsen and paired with the flat modular chassis from REE, it is powered by ‘x-by-wire’ technology. The ‘REEcorners’ are a drive system packed into the arch of every wheel, allowing for a completely flat chassis. All components are controlled electronically by ‘x-by-wire’, and have no mechanical connection.
Drag has been reduced by 60% compared to other machines, increasing efficiency considerably. The low floor makes the vehicle easy to load and unload. The REEcorners can be swapped out quickly, reducing maintenance times and vehicle downtime when something goes wrong.
REE CEO Daniel Barel said that the demonstration events “will convey the value and efficiencies REE’s x-by-wire technology can bring to fleets, as well as the power of pairing this revolutionary chassis with EAVX and Morgan Olson’s high-tech body.”
