Police have renewed their appeal into the death of a lorry driver after a witness brought new information to light.

He was travelling in lorry towing a red trailer and was involved in a collision with an HGV towing a white trailer.

Shortly before the crash, a red Citroen C4 was involved in a separate collision with the central reservation at the same location.

It happened at around 4.20am, with police and ambulance crews called.

The air ambulance also landed on the motorway, but the Royal Mail worker, from Medway, could not be saved.

The road was closed for more than 12 hours to allow for investigations into the circumstances.

Now, police have revealed a witness has since reported that an HGV had briefly stopped behind the red Citroen before travelling away from the scene.

Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit would like to speak with the driver who stopped behind the Citroen as they may have important information that can assist with their enquiries, including onboard cameras that may have captured the collision.

The driver, and anyone else with information that is yet to get in contact, is asked to call 01622 798538 quoting AH/SW/46/20.

Alternatively, email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk.

Following the crash, the driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance and failing to provide a breath sample.

He has since been released pending further inquiries.
