Royal Mail jobs in Renfrewshire could be under threat as the company has allowed plans to cut 700 staff following months of delays due to Covid-19.
Bosses at Royal Mail announced this week that managerial jobs across the country will be culled in a bid to cut costs following a tough period over Christmas.

Services in Renfrewshire were plagued with significant delays due to the Omicron variant, with staff absences causing disruption throughout the area.
The Express previously told how irate Paisley residents were waiting up to three weeks for their mail to be delivered, with some people inundated with up to 20 letters in one delivery.
Some were even being forced to go straight to the sorting office in Underwood Road to collect letters themselves, claiming their last deliveries were as far back as December 16.
One 77-year-old retired Royal Mail worker claimed postal staff were being ordered to focus on parcel deliveries leaving letters “piling up” at the sorting office.
The former manager, who lives in the town’s Falside Avenue, said: “It’s just not good enough. People are missing out on important documents and information they have a right to be receiving regularly.
“People are entitled to have their mail delivered. We are going two weeks or more here with not a single letter.
Homes in Erskine and a number of areas of Paisley were hit by postal disruption as Royal Mail bosses struggled with staff absences.
Royal Mail chiefs said the resulting disruption meant it cannot deliver six days a week to certain postcode areas, which include Erskine’s PA7 and PA8, as well as the PA1, PA2 and PA3 areas of Paisley – set to include Paisley South and Castlehead and Paisley north west and Linwood.
When asked by the Express if any jobs in Renfrewshire were under threat, Royal Mail would provide details of where jobs would be cut.

In a statement, Simon Thompson, CEO of Royal Mail, said staff absences have been around twice pre-covid levels, with around 15,000 staff off sick or isolating in early January, resulting in the company spending more than £340 million on overtime, additional temporary staffing and sick pay, as well as providing targeted support for the offices most impacted.
The company said it was engaging with its unions on the proposal which, it added, would hopefully be achieved through “natural turnover, redeployment and voluntary redundancy”.
He said: “We have today entered into formal consultation on a management reorganisation to further streamline our operations and, at the same time, improve focus on local performance.
“We are committed to conducting the process sensitively, working closely with our people and their representatives.
“We have a track record of delivering change through natural turnover, redeployment and voluntary redundancy, wherever possible. Our full year outlook has been revised to take account of the costs of this reorganisation.”
