Residents of Trat flock to watch royal Khon performance of ‘Hanuman Chan Gamhaeng’

TRAT, Thailand – Residents of Trat Province have flocked to watch the royal Khon performance titled “Hanuman Chan Gamhaeng”, graciously provided by His Majesty the King. The performance took place at the multi-purpose hall of the Trat Provincial Administrative Organization on August 24-25, with actors from the Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theatre showcasing this exquisite classical art form.

Trat Governor Nattapong Sanguanchit expressed his delight over the strong public interest in the performance, with the venue reaching full capacity. Children and youth were especially engaged in the event. In addition to the Khon performance, an educational exhibition about Khon was held for the public, along with a market featuring local OTOP products and community goods from Trat Province.

The governor emphasized that this royal Khon performance not only contributes to preserving and promoting Thailand’s classical performing arts but also instills a sense of pride in the nation’s cultural heritage, particularly among the younger generation. The event continues to uphold His Majesty the King’s vision of preserving and expanding the reach of Thailand’s traditional arts.

The royal Khon performance is seen as a significant cultural contribution, enriching the nation’s arts and culture while nurturing an appreciation for classical Thai performance art.
