The state of Rhode Island has settled a lawsuit accusing it of failing to process food stamp applications on time. The Rhode Island branch of the American Civil Liberties Union sued the state in July, alleging officials too often missed deadlines for processing food stamp applications and for providing food stamps to households that are found to need emergency help.
