Ridgway Machines takes warehouse at Meridian Business Park to meet growing orders

Industrial machinery manufacturer Ridgway Machines has taken a 42,500 sq ft warehouse on the outskirts of Leicester.

The engineering company, which is based in Leicester, has taken a unit at Meridian Business Park, close to junction 21 of the M1 on the southern side of the city.

It needed the extra space after securing a number of new contracts.

The Centurion Way letting was agreed through Sheffield-based property consultants Commercial Property Partners (CPP)

Ridgway has been trading for 95 years and its machines are used for making electrical coils, cable and conductors, and to manufacture reinforced thermoplastic pipe for oil and gas pipelines.

CPP said the long-term lease was agreed soon after it brought the building to the market.

Ridgway chief executive Stephen Hunt said: “The business has seen a sudden expansion following new contracts, and further recruitment as a result.

“Meridian Business Park provides the ideal new location for Ridgway Machines, allowing us to expand within our heartland and continue to provide best in class service for our valued customers.”

The unit includes a self-contained warehouse with six ground level loading doors and a two-storey office block.

Neighbours include Royal Mail, Bunzl, FedEx, Toyota Material Handling, BPW Limited and Sytner Group.

CPP director Stuart Waite said: “We are delighted to have leased this building at Centurion Way to a well-established, reputable manufacturing business.

“Ridgway’s long-term commitment to the site represents a positive outcome for my client, and indeed the local economy.

“The facilities offered will support Ridgway’s growth over the next few years and we wish them all the best.”

CPP and Avison Young acted as joint agents on the instruction.
