Rigging blueprint of Captain Scott’s Discovery to sell for thousands

A piece of Dundee’s maritime history will go under the hammer on Tuesday.

The blueprint of the rigging of Captain Scott’s ship Discovery has been put up for auction, with a estimated sale price of £2,000 – £4,000.

It was produced by the Dundee Ship Building company and is dated to 1901.

Since then, it’s been in the hands of the family of tent and sail makers Sidney W Millar, which rigged the Discovery ahead of her maiden voyage to the Antarctic.

The sale is part of auction house Curr & Dewar’s collectors and interiors auction that goes on sale at 10am on Tuesday.
