Riled Michigan lawmakers urge action to keep lottery winners from getting food stamps

Angry legislators responded quickly Wednesday to close a loophole allowing some Michigan Lottery jackpot winners to collect food stamps. Leroy Fick, 59, of Bay County won $2 million last June in the Michigan Lottery’s “Make Me Rich!” television show, yet the Department of Human Services determined he could continue to receive food stamps.
