Robinhood’s crypto unit receives Wells Notice from SEC

Robonhood (HOOD) disclosed that the US Securities and Exchange Commission has sent the company a Wells Notice over its crypto business. A Wells Notice is a notification that the regulator is planning to bring an enforcement action against the company. In a blog post, Robinhood’s Chief Legal, Compliance, and Corporate Affairs Officer Dan Gallagher says “After years of good faith attempts to work with the SEC for regulatory clarity including our well-known attempt to ‘come in and register,’ we are disappointed that the agency has decided to issue a Wells Notice related to our U.S. crypto business,” adding that the company intends to engage with the regulator.
