Rowlatts Hill Post Office branch to reopen four years after closing to customers

Rowlatts Hill is set to finally get its Post Office reopened after the branch was closed four years ago. The original shop, which was based on Wicklow Drive, was closed back in 2019, but the company has now confirmed they will be reopening the branch on nearby Ambassador Road.

Residents had to go to the branch on Uppingham Road for their nearest Post Office after their old one closed, but from 1pm on Thursday, March 23, their local branch will reopen in the new location. The opening hours for the new store will be from 8am to 8pm on Monday to Saturday, and open between 10am and 5pm on Sundays.

There will be a Post Office counter as well as a retail counter for a convenience store based in the same building. There will be a range of products and services still available, although the Post Office has confirmed that National Lottery, Vehicle Tax, and Travel Insurance On Demand services won’t be in the new site.

The branch will provide cash withdrawals, deposits and balance enquiries over the counter, as well as providing mail and parcel services, foreign currency exchange, and bill payment services.

Anne Murphy, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: “We are delighted to be restoring Post Office services to this area of Leicester as we know how important a Post Office is to a community. The opening hours will also make it very convenient to visit.”

Prior to the store’s opening, The Post Office wants feedback from local residents about the new store and what they think about the plans. You can do this by visiting www.postofficeviews.co.uk and using branch code 308217 – you have until March 3 to provide feedback.

You can also submit feedback via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, by post to Freepost YOUR COMMENTS, or by telephone 03452 66 01 15 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.
