Royal British Legion on the march in Eynsham in 1983

Members of the Royal British Legion at Eynsham, near Witney, turned out in their full regalia to mark their 60th anniversary in 1983.

Hundreds of villagers and their relatives and friends were there to admire not only the uniformed contingent but other groups as well.

The diamond jubilee celebration also drew support from Guides, Scouts, Cadets and local voluntary groups. The Duke of Marlborough was among the guests.

After the parade, an anniversary service was held in St Leonard’s Church, Eynsham, conducted by the vicar, the Rev Peter Ridley.
