Royal expert says Prince William and family’s security ‘highest priority’ | Royal | News

The six-mile security perimeter placed around Prince William and Princess Catherine’s new Windsor home has been discussed by former head of royal protection Dai Davies. The couple moved into Forest Lodge with their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – back in October.

The eight-bedroom property has been described as their “forever home”. The family previously lived at Adelaide Cottage since 2022 after moving to Windsor from London.

With William currently next in line to the throne, and his children positioned as second, third and fourth, their security has been deemed as the “highest priority”.

The exclusion zone of at least 150 acres is a result of serious concerns for the safety of William, Catherine, George, Charlotte and Louis, as reported by The Mail on Sunday.

It has reportedly been established under Section 128 of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005

Writing in a piece for The Mail, Mr Davies said: “Any suggestion that the family’s need for privacy played a significant part in the decision is, in my view, so wide of the mark as to be laughable.

“It’s understandable that ramblers, dog walkers and some neighbours are peeved that the land in Windsor Great Park that was previously open to all is now fenced off.

“But their right to roam is not more important than the Royal Family’s need for protection from terrorists and others intent on doing them harm.

“This is a question of priorities. And the safety of the heir to the throne is the highest priority imaginable.”

The family were pictured enjoying Christmas Day at the Sandringham estate earlier this week.
