A charity featured by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as a Force for Change have thanked the royals for the ‘exposure’ by naming one of their whale sharks after baby Archie.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated their ‘Force for Change’ month in August, following fifteen charities to highlight their work, including Mozambique-based Love The Oceans on their official Sussex Royal Instagram account this afternoon.
Now Love The Oceans have revealed they were so touched to be chosen by the royals that they have named one of their baby whale sharks after Prince Harry, 34, and Meghan’s, 37, son Archie.

Love The Oceans announced the news on Instagram, saying they’d named the whale shark Archie as a thank you for the support from @SussexRoyal
Posting on Instagram, the charity said: ‘One month on from being recognised as a #Forceforchange’ by @Sussexroyal and we’re super appreciative of the exposure we’ve gained from them shining a light on us. As a thank you we have just named one of our juvenile whale sharks ‘Archie.’
They added: ‘Welcome to the family Archie.’
The organisation, which focuses on marine conservation, was chosen by the royal couple as one of the 15 accounts they are following for the month of August, which they have dubbed the ‘Forces For Change’ month.
The charity went on to share a series of photographs of the new baby Archie swimming in the ocean.

The charity previously said that exposure on the Sussex Royal Instagram had given them ‘a much wider reach’ than they ‘could have dreamed!’
As well as following the charity on Instagram as one of their featured Forces For Change, Harry and Meghan shone a spotlight on Love the Oceans last week on International Whale Shark Day.

Focusing on the charity’s work to protect whale sharks, the caption read: ‘As we come to the end of the month we want to acknowledge the great work done by @LoveTheOceans – a non-profit organisation we are following, chosen by you for #ForcesForChange month. ‘
‘Today we are helping them celebrate #InternationalWhaleSharkDay.’
They added: ‘LoveTheOceans (LTO) is launching its ‘Adopt a Whale Shark’ campaign, enabling people to adopt an individual whale shark. The donation will support their continued research to protect these gentle giants.’

Love the Oceans said that support from the royals had given them over 4,500 new followers on Instagram, as well as selling over 45 Whale Shark Adoption packs.
The charity also said support from Prince Harry and Meghan helped them reach their goal to build a community swimming pool where they would help teach villagers life saving swimming skills.
Prince Harry has travelled to Mozambique in the past, having visited minefields in Tete province in 2010 as he continued the work of his mother Princess Diana with the Halo project.
