Royal invite: CEO of Cumbrian charity attends Palace event

Cindy Daltioni, the founder and CEO of Self-harm Awareness for All Cumbria (SAFA), was proud to represent the service at the King’s Garden Party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.

Each year the Monarch traditionally spends a week in Scotland, hosting thousands at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in recognition of their good work.

(Image: SAFA Cumbria) SAFA Cumbria, which is based in Barrow, was one of the groups nominated to attend.

The Garden Party dates back to the reign of King George V and Queen Mary.

It is an important way for The King and members of the Royal Party to speak to a broad range of people from all walks of life, all of whom have made a positive impact in their communities.

Ms Daltioni said: “It was an incredible honour to represent Self harm Awareness For All (SAFA Cumbria) at this prestigious event.  SAFA was set up 19 years ago and has helped thousands of people in our local community.  We change and save lives – we know this through the voices of the people that have used our service. 

“The need for people to have a space where they feel heard, valued and respected has never been so great. We are a place where people can work on their personal struggles with a qualified professional.

(Image: SAFA Cumbria) “However, like many other charities funding is increasingly challenging to secure.  This is due to a combination of factors, including cuts in public sector funding and increased competition for grants.  This is making it harder for charities to meet the rising demand for their services especially during these challenging times.”
