Royal Mail 2021 Christmas delivery deadline dates

The Royal Mail is urging customers to post gifts and cards well in advance this year to ensure they don’t miss out this Christmas.

The postal service has warned the public to allow plenty of time for posting, believing “ongoing Covid restrictions, reduced air and freight capacity, high volumes and winter weather conditions” are impacting deliveries.

To make sure your loved ones get their parcels in time, the Royal Mail has listed its suggested posting dates.

The news comes after it was announced the company is planning to recruit hundreds more workers in Kent this Christmas.

Due to the increased amount of post over the festive period, the company is hiring to help sort the additional volumes of parcels, cards and letters across its mail centres.

Royal Mail has told KentLive there are currently 561 vacancies in Kent this winter.

On their job site, it says: “Just like Mr & Mrs Claus, you’ll play a key role in bringing Christmas to people across the UK! As a Mail Sorter, you’ll be unloading mail and parcels from our vans, moving them through our warehouses and ensuring that they arrive at their destination safely.

“During a single shift, you could sort over a million items with your team! It’s a very important role so flexibility, commitment and enthusiasm are key.”

This recruitment programme is part of Royal Mail’s substantial financial investment in additional resources at Christmas to help cope with the pressure on the postal service every Christmas.

The seasonal workers will support Royal Mail’s 85,000 permanent postal workers who sort and deliver the mail all year round.

Royal Mail Chief People Officer, Zareena Brown, previously said: “Our seasonal workforce is incredibly important to our operation and we very much look forward to welcoming those who return year after year, as well as those who may be joining us for the first time.

“Being part of delivering Christmas is a brilliant experience and one that we know offers lots of opportunities for employment and engagement in the communities we serve.”

Additional vacancies are also available in Royal Mail’s UK and international parcel hubs, customer services and administration departments.

Royal Mail Group’s express parcel business, Parcelforce Worldwide, is also looking for additional seasonal workers.

Interested applicants can apply on their dedicated website.
