Royal Mail aiming to double Covid test deliveries | News

The Royal Mail will double its capacity to deliver almost 900,000 Covid-19 testing kits per day by the end of this week, with demand soaring and no lateral flow tests available online.

Between 6am and 8am yesterday, more than 200,000 packs of lateral flow tests (LFTs) were ordered online. By mid-morning government websites reported that rapid lateral flow tests were “not available right now”, the third day of such problems.

Some people trying to book walk-in PCR tests were directed to sites several miles away. The government’s website said there were “no available” walk-in test site slots in London, Hertfordshire, the Isle of Wight, Middlesex, Surrey and Bristol.

There are fears that fewer people will book PCR tests if they cannot first access LFTs
