Royal Mail has issued a warning as 127 postcodes across the UK are hit by major delivery delays

Royal Mail has issued an alert as 127 postcodes are experiencing significant delivery delays owing to “high levels of sickness”.

The 127 postcodes throughout the UK are encountering substantial delivery disruptions today due to elevated staff absence rates. Royal Mail stated: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.” The organisation said it is providing targeted support to struggling delivery offices to help restore services.

“In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors,” the firm added. They continued: “We will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”

Royal Mail apologised for the disruption, saying: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
