Many homes and businesses won’t recieve their mail on time.
Royal Mail has issued a delivery update for certain postcodes across the UK facing delays. The delivery firm has shared a list of areas that are impacted by delays.
As of Tuesday, March 31, there are delays across the UK. Royal Mail’s air network operated to schedule over the past 24 hours, but its road network did not.
Royal Mail said: “Last night, a breakdown delayed the departure of a vehicle travelling from our Midlands Hub to our Glasgow Mail Centre.

“Mail was transferred via contingency services and may have missed connections. As a result, some mail posted yesterday in other parts of the UK, due for delivery today in the G, KA, ML and PA postcode areas may arrive later than planned.”
It added that there had been technical issues at its Princess Royal Distribution Centre in London, which delayed the departure of some mail travelling to the Swindon Mail Centre.
The delay means that some mail posted yesterday in London and the southeast that was due for delivery today in the OX, RG and SN postcode areas may arrive later than expected.
Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.
“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
It comes as the company has faced criticism over its late deliveries amid stamp price rises next month. Its owner Daniel Kretinsky told MPs: “Of course I am deeply sorry for any letters that arrive late.”
However, last week he denied Royal Mail ‘s track record for letters arriving late was deteriorating. Speaking to the Commons Business select committee, Mr Kretinsky said: “It is not perfect, but it is not catastrophic.”
Royal Mail was fined £21million last October for missing First and Second Class delivery targets in its last financial year. Now, customers are being hit with a stamp increase.
First Class stamps will go to £1.80 and Second Class to 91p from April 6. The price of a First Class stamp in 2020 was 76p.
