Royal Mail announces major change in delivery dates – starting from today

With the country in lockdown, more people than ever are using Royal Mail to keep in contact with loved ones.

Whether that be for birthdays or just to send letters – either way, it had an impact on the company.

Due to the impact coronavirus had on the company, the postal service reduced its days of delivery during the week from six to five.

This was mainly because of staff shortages and an increase in demand.

But from today, Saturday, June 13, Saturday deliveries will resume.

Now standard first and second class post can be delivered on a Saturday – instead of a Monday – the day it had been delivered on instead since May 2.

Despite the change last month, the service was affected that much but it was more of an inconvenience to customers.

A statement on the Royal Mail website read: “We will resume the six-day-a-week delivery of letters and parcels from June 13.”

More information about the change can be found on the company’s website.
