While various delivery offices are experiencing delays, Royal Mail’s air and road network ran to schedule over the weekend. The firm issued a statement to inform customers of the current situation.
Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.
“In a small number of offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or local factors.
“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.
“We also provide targeted support to offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive
It also apologised to customers for the delays that have been caused for several reasons, reports the Mirror.
It added: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

Customers have been experiencing delays since Monday, March 9, affecting 14 offices. Glasgow, Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and Pontyclun are the areas impacted by the hold up.
The firm said that the increases result from the rising cost of delivery, as letter volumes dropped and the number of addresses increased.
However, Royal Mail is facing backlash for failing to deliver mail on time, with 2019-2020 being the last year it met its annual target for first-class post.
