Royal Mail are looking for posties in Hertfordshire and here’s what they’re paying

With Christmas around the corner, Royal Mail are advertising for extra posties to work in Hertfordshire during the festive season.

Sorting offices around the county see their workload boom over Christmas, as online shopping needs delivering and cards and gifts are sent to friends and relatives.

In order to ensure this demand is met, Royal Mail take on a number of temporary workers during the period.

Whether you are a student looking to bring in a bit of extra money or someone with some free time coming up during winter, these roles are perfect.

Both day and night shifts are available, with pay adjusted according to how unsocial the hours are.

So if you are flexible, adaptable and passionate, Royal Mail want to hear from you.

Here is everything you need to know about the new roles:

What you will be doing

Royal Mail offices can get extremely busy over Christmas

The Christmas Casuals jobs will be at the Home Counties North Mail Centre in Hemel Hempstead.

They are advertising a ‘Christmas Processing Post Person’ position, which is temporary employment to assist with the extra demand over the holidays.

Shifts are split into three categories: earlies (6am to 2pm), lates (2pm to 10pm) and nights (10pm to 6am).

Workers will have guaranteed hours at the post office, and there may also be some part time shifts available.

The job will involve unload post and parcels from vans, moving them around the warehouse and sorting them to ensure they arrive at the right address.

How much you will earn

Day shifts are paid at a handsome rate of £10.50 an hour.

If you decide you would rather do night shifts, you will be rewarded at a rate of £12.46 an hour, more than £4.00 an hour more than the national minimum wage for over 25s.

However, these shifts cannot be worked by under 18s from a legal standpoint, so they must stick to the earlies or lates hours.

  • You enjoy working to tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Being proactive and detailed focused is key
  • You are flexible and adaptable to work on various tasks during a shift
  • Pushing trolleys (up to 250kgs) and standing for long periods is comfortable for you
  • No previous experience is needed – don’t worry, we love new people
  • If you do have experience in warehouse or sorting work, with the likes of Amazon or another distribution company, then you are definitely on our wishlist too.

Angard workers can speak to their representative rather than having to apply online for the roles.
