Royal Mail are looking for temporary Christmas staff from Liverpool

It might only be October, but Christmas is well and truly on the way, and businesses are already taking on temporary staff to prepare for the rush.

Royal Mail is among the companies recruiting for the festive period and arguably one of the most hectic and in demand.

Here’s a breakdown of the Christmas Royal Mail job available in Liverpool right now.

Working from the North West Parcel sorting centre in Knowsley, Liverpool you will help deal with the increased flow of parcels and letters flying through the warehouse.

As a Mail Sorter, you’ll be responsible for unloading mail and parcels from the vans and moving them through the warehouse while ensuring they arrive at their destination safely.

The job advert states: “Unsurprisingly, Christmas is the busiest time of year at Royal Mail. And with so many parcels and letters flowing through our warehouse, we always need a few thousand extra hands! Every year over the holiday season, temporary flexible workers from all walks of life help us to get everything where it needs to go.”

In fact, during a single shift, you could sort over a million items with your team – so they’re looking for someone flexible, committed and enthusiastic.

A bit of body strength wouldn’t hurt either as you’ll be pushing trolleys weighing up to 250kgs plus lifting and moving mailbags weighing up to 11kg.

They added while you don’t need to have worked for Royal Mail before experience in warehouse or sorting work is a bonus.

Pay

  • £11.40 p/h (days) to £13.70 p/h (nights).

Most sites offer a range of shifts, so finding one that suits you should be simple. Typical shift patterns include:

  • Earlies: Tuesday to Saturday, 06:00 – 14:00
  • Lates: Monday to Friday, 14:00 – 22:00
  • Nights: Monday to Friday, 22:00 – 06:00
  • Weekends: Saturday Only, either 14:00 – 22:00 or 22:00 – 06:00
