Royal Mail Celebrates 200 Years of UK Steam Locomotives –

Royal Mail has launched a stunning new set of 10 stamps to mark two centuries of British railway history. The collection celebrates iconic steam locomotives and the pioneering spirit behind the UK’s rail network.

Six Legendary Locos Take Centre Stage

The main stamp set features six legendary locomotives that transformed rail travel across Britain:

• Locomotion No. 1
• Rocket
• City of Truro
• Mallard
• Duchess of Hamilton
• Evening Star

Extra Special Miniature Sheet Marks Stockton & Darlington Railway’s 200th

Alongside, a four-stamp miniature sheet commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, opened in 1825:

• Artwork showing the historic opening of the S&DR in 1825
• A vintage image of Locomotion No. 1 at Darlington, circa 1890
• A commemorative postcard from the S&DR centenary in 1925
• A photo of the Locomotion No. 1 replica from 1975
