Royal Mail CEO admits breaches in policy on ‘tracking workers’ while under oath

Royal Mail CEO Simon Thompson was brought back to parliament today to give evidence under oath after concerns were raised about his comments made in a previous session.

Darren Jones, who chairs the business, energy and industrial strategy committee, said: “Why are you printing posters and displaying them in delivery offices, comparing individual postal workers and how long they stand still for any particular time if you don’t track them individually?”.

Mr Thompson responded: “Yeah, I understand. … We we saw this evidence the other day, and that is actually a breach of our very clear policy and our agreement with the CWU”.
