And since people love a bit of last minute shopping, it seems as though deliveries could be delayed a lot.

So if you want to finish your Christmas presents, you might want to get a move on.

Here’s everything you need to know about Royal Mail deadlines around the festive season.

First Class post could still arrive before Christmas

Brits who use 1st Class, 1st Class Signed For, Royal Mail 24 and Royal Mail Tracked 48 have until December 16 to send post to guarantee it arrives before Christmas.

The Royal Mail’s website states customers can use Royal Mail Tracked 24 right up until December 19 for arrives by December 25.

However if you want to use 2nd Class and 2nd Class Signed For, the deadline was essentially on Monday (December 12).

But according to the Telegraph, a source said there is a major backlog of items which needs to be delivered.

They said: “The back-up of post is really bad.

“Royal Mail is focusing on parcels and there is not a lot of room in the model for letters.

“Christmas cards will likely be very late with some certainly not arriving until February.”

In other Royal Mail news, there’s a deadline to use the old stamps.

Barcoded stamps were introduced back in February following a successful trial.

Now Brits have until January 31, 2023, to use the old stamps which don’t feature the barcode.
