A number of seasonal job vacancies are available at the Royal Mail across Yorkshire to cover the Christmas period.

There are currently dozens of roles in Yorkshire being advertised on the Royal Mail’s website across Yorkshire, including numerous vacancies for seasonal mail sorters.

The Christmas period is always the busiest for the Royal Mail and temporary workers are hired during the season.

South Yorkshire

There are jobs currently being advertised in Sheffield and Doncaster by the Royal Mail.

In both parts of South Yorkshire there are jobs for seasonal mail sorters, which involves helping at the warehouses.

Pay is advertised at £11.40 per hour for day shifts and £13.70 per hour for night shifts and shifts can vary throughout the week.

The Royal Mail in Stourton

The Royal Mail describes the role, saying: “As a Mail Sorter, you’ll be unloading mail and parcels from our vans, moving them through our warehouses and ensuring that they arrive at their destination safely. During a single shift, you could sort over a million items with your team! It’s a very important role so flexibility, commitment and enthusiasm are key.”

There are also roles in Sheffield for a postperson and collection and delivery drivers.

West Yorkshire

In West Yorkshire there are currently roles being advertised by the Royal Mail in Wakefield and Leeds.

There are currently four roles for postpersons in the Leeds area being advertised on the Royal Mail’s website across the Leeds area and there are numerous vacancies for seasonal mail sorters at two Leeds offices.

The seasonal mail sorters roles are based in the Leeds Mail Centre on Leodis Way and at the Leeds Sorting Centre on Trent Road.

Pay is advertised at £11.40 per hour for day shifts and £13.70 per hour for night shifts and shifts can vary throughout the week.

There are also four jobs for ‘Postperson with driving’ in the Leeds area – one at the Leeds City Delivery Office, one in Seacroft, one in Sheepscar and another in Harehills.

The role is advertised by the Royal Mail, who say: “From scorching summer days to the depths of winter, our postal workers play a vital role, delivering the mail. It’s a physically demanding job – but it’s one the nation relies on.”

There are currently three vacancies at the Royal Mail available in North Yorkshire.

In York there is a vacancy for a postperson with driving based at the Pocklington Delivery Office. The role is advertised at 25 hours per week, five days per week, with a starting rate of £10.85 for those over 18.
