Royal Mail Christmas jobs in Southampton as thousands of seasonal workers needed

Royal Mail wants to recruit around 20,000 workers to help sort the Christmas post and keep up with the high demand of online shopping this festive season.

Temporary positions across the country are up for grabs, including at a Southampton warehouse.

From late October through to early January 2022 a variety of shifts will be available.

The peak of the temporary work will be in the busiest month of December, with Parcelforce also looking for seasonal drivers.

Around 17,150 seasonal workers are needed in mail centres, distribution hubs and data centres across England, with 1,800 in Scotland, 650 in Wales and 500 in Northern Ireland.

Southampton Mail Centre

Seasonal mail sorters are needed to unload mail and parcels from vans, move them through warehouses and ensure they reach their destination.

You will be paid £11.40 per hour and £13.70 per hour for night shifts.

Royal Mail asks for applicants to enjoy a fast-paced environment, be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to push heavy trolleys and move mail bags.

You don’t have to have previously worked for Royal Mail to apply.

An additional 1,500 workers will be recruited on Royal Mail Group’s express parcels business Parcelforce Worldwide, 1,500 at its international parcel hub at Heathrow and 650 data inputting roles available at three sites in the UK.
