Britons all over the country have had to wait weeks for their mail in recent days. Due to Covid-related issues, Royal Mail has been hit with major parcel and letter delays. Which areas are most affected today?
Royal Mail has updated its website to inform customers of any parcel delays today, January 22.
The company said it operates an air, rail, and road network to move letters and parcels between our distribution hubs, mail processing centres and delivery offices around the UK.
Royal Mail’s air, rail, and road networks have been operating to schedule over the last 24 hours.
However, one of its mail centres is experiencing issues.

Royal Mail said: “The mail centre below reported not all mail was processed or despatched to schedule over the last 24 hours, and as a result some mail may be delivered slightly later than expected.
“South Midlands Mail Centre: Some mail posted yesterday in the CV, LE, MK and NN postcode areas, due for delivery today to addresses across the rest of the UK.”
As for deliveries today, the company continued: “Deliveries are operating as normal across most of the country today.
“We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.
DON’T MISS:
“In a small number of local offices this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as Covid-related self-isolation, high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.
“In those cases we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.
“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”
Royal Mail added: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
Britons have taken to social media over the last 24 hours to express their fury and frustration with the delays.
Responding to a friend’s parcel, Twitter user @Lillytuft said: “Just a shame it took a month in the post when I paid for 1st class. Thing is I did pay full postage. They did this to all my parcels and it doesn’t explain a four-week delay.”
User @BlobWithAGob commented: “I thought I was going mad, they have been taking weeks to deliver parcels. This has been happening since last year Nov.”
User @sonniyetokuyucu added: “I am really fed up with #royalmail. They always have excuses about delays and pretend you are covered up to a certain value but they just go through avoidance tactics and completely ignore the sellers. It is absolutely disgusting.”
