Royal Mail completes major upgrade to Wrexham delivery office

Outdated standalone buildings have been demolished and replaced with a new 475-square metre extension to the main building – which includes extra sorting facilities, a new customer service point and improved staff areas.

Royal Mail said the revamp represents a significant investment in upgrading its service to the local area.

The office – which was visited by Sarah Atherton, MP for Wrexham to see the transformation first-hand – has undergone an extensive building programme over the last year.

On the old site, staff had to navigate a series of outdated standalone buildings while carrying out their work. These have been demolished and replaced with the new extension to the main building – bringing the whole operation under one roof to improve safety and efficiency.

The new site also includes extra sorting facilities, a new customer service point, improved staff areas and extended yard access to accommodate larger 17-tonne vehicles. The office remained fully operational while construction work was carried out to avoid any interruption to service.

Sarah Atherton MP said: “It was a pleasure to be invited to Royal Mail’s Delivery Office in Wrexham to see this transformation and to hear about the positive impact it has had on staff, customers and the efficiency of Royal Mail’s operations in Wrexham.

“The postal service continues to be vital for many in Wrexham and so I am pleased to see that Royal Mail have made this investment into their Wrexham site which will benefit many across our community.”

“We’re excited about the new building – it is a much better working environment than the old site and will help us provide a more efficient service for our customers.”
