Royal Mail confirms it will get more posties to deliver in Nuneaton amid more delays

Royal Mail has confirmed it will get more posties to deliver across Nuneaton amid reports of more delays. One resident contacted CoventryLive to say her dad, who lives in the St Nicolas Park area of town, had no mail delivered for three weeks – then it all turned up at once.

It is the latest in a number of issues with mail delivery across the town, which prompted Nuneaton’s MP Marcus Jones to take up a ‘significant number’ of complaints from residents to the regulator Ofcom.

Royal Mail previously that the recent issues with some people not receiving their mail have been down to staff sickness, but an insider told CoventryLive that it is due to a lack of staff to deal with even bigger rounds caused by growing development in the area.

Now, in light of the most recent complaint, Royal Mail has admitted that there are some ‘resourcing’ issues and that it is actively seeking to bring in more staff.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We are sorry some customers have experienced delays in Nuneaton. The local service has recently been impacted by resourcing issues, including vacancies and sick absences.

“Efforts are underway to resolve this, including the authorisation of recruitment to bring more posties onboard and bring service levels back to the high standard our customers expect.

“We encourage anyone who experiences delays or who has concerns about the delivery of their mail to please contact Royal Mail customer service on 03457 740 740 or via www.royalmail.com.”
