Royal Mail is consulting the Brighton and Hove area’s public over proposals to develop a new delivery and sorting centre in Patcham, close to the A27 in West Sussex.
The new site is on brownfield land that has previously been developed for other purposes, close to the Brighton and Hove Crescent cricket ground. Royal Mail is seeking to develop it thanks to increases in parcel volumes.
The postal operator has put up a website for the public at https://royalmailpatcham.co.uk for interested members of the public to see future plans for the site. The website says, “This website will be developed to host a range of information about the project and provide a way for you to give us feedback on the emerging proposals.”
There are to be two public consultation events later in January.“The views of the local community are important to Royal Mail and we welcome your feedback on our proposals,” the organisation continued.
A spokesperson from the Royal Mail said: “With postmen and women delivering more parcels and fewer letters, Royal Mail is looking at its delivery office in the Brighton and Hove area.
“We have identified a site in Patcham for a new state of the art delivery office.
“We have launched a public consultation in the area to seek the views of local residents on the proposals prior to submitting a planning application to Brighton and Hove Council for their consideration.”
