‘Royal Mail delivered Christmas parcel but you’ll never believe what was inside’

David Oliver Jordan shared a video about his Christmas shopping nightmare after Royal Mail delivered his parcel. He was floored by the discovery he made when he looked inside

It’s well known that Christmas shopping can be stressful, but matters become even more frustrating when parcels disappear. Recently, one man was left fuming after Royal Mail allegedly failed to deliver his parcel, instead handing him a completely unexpected item, and the incident left him totally floored.

David Oliver Jordan shared his recent shopping ordeal online, and he was stunned by what occurred. He’d ordered a present in time for Christmas, but ended up receiving something entirely different in the post, and the situation has left him bewildered as he’s never encountered anything quite like it before.

In the video, he claimed the gift he ordered has “gone missing”, but stated Royal Mail did leave something else in its place. It’s not the first time someone’s parcel has disappeared either.

David said: “Has anybody else had this conundrum? A flat piece of cardboard delivered to my address with this message on the front in a plastic bag from the Royal Mail.

“The number and the website we tried, the phone number we tried for over an hour, eventually got through to someone. They said they would deal with it. Nothing has happened. This was last week.”

He added: “We haven’t heard anything so yesterday I called the number again. Half an hour I was on the phone listening to their melodic music. Then I decided to give up.

“A flat piece of card. When our postman from the Royal Mail yesterday came to deliver our post, I asked her the question about what do we do if we can’t get a hold of anybody or haven’t heard from anybody?

“She didn’t have a clue, not a clue. ‘I don’t know, I’m very sorry this has happened, but we have to send whatever’s delivered in a plastic bag if it’s damaged’. There’s nothing in it – it’s just an empty piece of card.”

David remains in the dark about the whereabouts of his parcel, leaving him with nothing but a piece of cardboard. This is what he received instead of his ordered package, alongside an apology note.

In the comments section, numerous people recommended he contact the retailer to help resolve the matter. After all, the seller might be able to assist.

What happens if a Royal Mail parcel goes missing?

Royal Mail has been approached for further comment on this incident; however, additional guidance is available on its website. The information states: “If an item has been posted with or handled by another postal operator then it will not be eligible for compensation for loss from Royal Mail under this policy unless the postal operator has posted the packet using one of the Royal Mail services, in which case that postal operator will be regarded as the sender of the item for compensation purposes.

“If an item has been damaged or suffered part loss the customer may be entitled to claim compensation, please refer to the compensation for damage or part loss policy.

“Royal Mail expects customers who are posting items that have an intrinsic value to take these to an access point that can provide them with appropriate evidence of posting an item with Royal Mail.”

Further details are available on the Royal Mail website.
