Royal Mail delivering half of first-class post on time | News

Royal Mail has delivered just over half of its first-class mail on time during industrial action by postal workers.

The postal service delivered 54.1 per cent of its first-class mail on the next working day in the three months ended December 4. The company said it had been hit by “highly damaging” strikes during the period but that it had made improvements since then.

Royal Mail’s performance faltered as it was unable to resolve a dispute with the Communication Workers Union (CWU). Its workers walked out for nine days as they challenged the company over below-inflation pay rises and an overhaul of working practices.
