A Christmas card has been delivered to a house 11,000 miles away from its intended destination.
The envelope dropped through the letterbox of a house in Kesteven Road, Stamford.
Its intended recipients are a couple living in Kesteven Avenue, Glendowie -11,315 miles away in Auckland, New Zealand.
The recipients initially assumed it was for one of their neighbours, but quickly noticed the full address and realised it would take them significantly out of their way to redeliver it to the rightful owners.
A spokesman for Royal Mail said: “We are concerned to learn of this misdelivery and would like to apologise to both customers.
“Cases like this are extremely rare but every item of mail is important to us and we do all we can to offer a high standard of service to our customers.
“Our postmen and postwomen are regularly reminded to check mail thoroughly before delivery.
“Customers who receive an international item in error should hand it in to a Royal Mail delivery office or a Post Office so that it can be processed correctly.”
