Royal Mail delivery delay warning to postcodes in Wales — full list of areas

Multiple postcode areas across Wales are impacted

Royal Mail has released a delivery update for specific postcodes throughout the UK experiencing disruptions, including Wales. The postal service has published a list of regions affected by the delays.

As of Tuesday, March 31, disruptions are occurring nationwide. While Royal Mail’s air network maintained its schedule over the previous 24 hours, its road network encountered difficulties.

Royal Mail said: “Last night, a breakdown delayed the departure of a vehicle travelling from our Midlands Hub to our Glasgow Mail Centre.

“Mail was transferred via contingency services and may have missed connections. As a result, some mail posted yesterday in other parts of the UK, due for delivery today in the G, KA, ML and PA postcode areas may arrive later than planned.”

The company also reported technical difficulties at its Princess Royal Distribution Centre in London, which held up the departure of post heading to the Swindon Mail Centre, reports the Mirror.

This disruption means that post sent yesterday from London and the southeast intended for delivery today in the OX, RG and SN postcode areas may arrive later than planned.

Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.

“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

This follows mounting criticism of the company over delayed deliveries alongside next month’s stamp price increases. Owner Daniel Kretinsky informed MPs: “Of course I am deeply sorry for any letters that arrive late.”

Nevertheless, last week he rejected suggestions that Royal Mail’s punctuality record for letters was worsening. Addressing the Commons Business select committee, Mr Kretinsky stated: “It is not perfect, but it is not catastrophic.”

Royal Mail received a £21million fine last October after failing to meet First and Second Class delivery targets during its previous financial year. Customers now face a stamp price hike.

From April 6, First Class stamps will rise to £1.80 while Second Class will increase to 91p. In 2020, a First Class stamp cost 76p.
