Royal Mail has released a delivery warning for specific postcodes throughout the UK experiencing disruptions, including Merseyside. The postal service has published a list of affected regions.
As of Tuesday, March 31, disruptions are occurring nationwide. While Royal Mail’s air network maintained its regular schedule over the past 24 hours, its road network did not.
Royal Mail said: “Last night, a breakdown delayed the departure of a vehicle travelling from our Midlands Hub to our Glasgow Mail Centre. Mail was transferred via contingency services and may have missed connections.

“As a result, some mail posted yesterday in other parts of the UK, due for delivery today in the G, KA, ML and PA postcode areas may arrive later than planned.”
The company also reported technical difficulties at its Princess Royal Distribution Centre in London, which held up the dispatch of certain mail heading to the Swindon Mail Centre, reports the Mirror.
This disruption means that some post sent yesterday from London and the South East, scheduled for delivery today in the OX, RG and SN postcode areas, may arrive behind schedule.
Royal Mail stated: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.
“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
This follows mounting criticism directed at the postal service regarding late deliveries, along with the upcoming stamp price increases. Owner Daniel Kretinsky informed MPs: “Of course I am deeply sorry for any letters that arrive late.”
Nevertheless, last week he rejected suggestions that Royal Mail’s punctuality record for letter deliveries was worsening. Addressing the Commons Business select committee, Mr Kretinsky said: “It is not perfect, but it is not catastrophic.”
The postal operator received a £21million fine last October after failing to meet First and Second Class delivery targets during its previous financial year. Customers now face higher stamp costs.
From April 6, First Class stamps will rise to £1.80 while Second Class will increase to 91p. By comparison, a First Class stamp cost just 76p in 2020.
