Royal Mail delivery delays continue in Hampshire as postal update issued for Havant residents

Over 10 areas of the country are being hit by postal delays as Royal Mail continues to battle against a number of issues.

Yesterday (January 24), we bought you an update from Royal Mail which said that residents in one Hampshire area could expect delivery issues.

That area, Havant, has been facing on off issues since before Christmas.

This morning (January 25) the company issued an update on deliveries in the area, and it’s not good news for Havant residents.

The PO9-10 areas of Havant have once again been hit by delays, with a number of issues flagged as a potential cause.

Taking to their website today, a company spokesperson said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as COVID-related self isolation, high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.

“In those cases we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

As well as Havant, Southampton was also hit with delivery issues in the build up to Christmas.

Royal Mail also apologised earlier this month after delays to deliveries in areas in Hampshire including Havant as the company was hit with “high levels of sickness absence and Covid related self-isolation”.

Havant is one of 11 places experiencing delays in the country today.

Others include Barking, East Dulwich, Manchester South West and West Norwood.

Royal Mail will continue to update it’s website regarding delivery delays in areas across the country.
