Royal Mail delivery delays in Merseyside postcodes due to covid

Royal Mail is warning of delivery disruptions in 47 of its delivery offices across the UK due to staff absences.

The postal service has said workers having to self isolate and high numbers of staff off sick are affecting deliveries.

“Resourcing” and “other local factors” have been attributed to the delays.

As a result, people living in certain UK postcodes – a number of which are in Merseyside – will see deliveries disrupted.

The news comes after many people have reported not receiving post in different parts of the region, over the past few months.

Earlier this month, one St Helens woman told the ECHO she hadn’t received any post for “almost four weeks” and had been expecting a letter which was posted at the beginning of December.

Despite a number of issues, Royal Mail reported a £311m pre-tax profit in the six months to September 26, 2021.

On its website, Royal Mail said deliveries are “operating as normal across most of the country” but that it may “not be possible” to deliver to addresses in some postcodes across all six days of the week.
