Royal Mail disruption: The Cambridgeshire postcodes facing Royal Mail Covid delays

Royal Mail has named several Cambridgeshire postcodes likely to experience delays to the delivery of their post this week due to Covid-related problems.

The postal service has said several areas across the country are likely to be affected by delays due to “resourcing issues, associated self-isolation and safety measures.”

It is thought that this could be due to some workers having to self-isolate either after testing positive for Covid-19 or coming into contact with someone who has, leaving the service lower on staff numbers than they would like.

In most areas temporarily affected by high levels of absence, homes can expect deliveries once every other day rather than every day.

However, in some “extreme cases,” even this delayed timetable is not possible.

Royal Mail has released a list of postcode areas affected by such “extreme cases” – and several of them are in Cambridgeshire.

The areas affected are the Orton Southgate, Peterborough postcodes of PE2, PE7, PE8 and PE9.

If you’ve missed a delivery and a ‘Something for you’ card has been left it’s worth checking opening times for their local delivery office as these have changed due to coronavirus.

Otherwise, mail may not be available for collection.

Several Peterborough postcodes were hit by coronavirus-related delays last month after similar problems arose.
